I’ve just uploaded an HD version of my interview with the legendary Alkaline Trio as the last one’s ound quality wasn’t all that great.
Hopefully this one will be better :)
Again, Thanks a bunch to Alkaline Trio for taken the time out. Hands down, nicest bunch of guys I’ve worked with.
Don’t think I really made a post about how this all went! I got to the venue half an hour early, I stood outside and spoke to one of the security guards I know. It was absolutely roasting! Eventually, Andy came and got me. Super nice guy! Headed upstairs and he radio’d through to the stage to ask if all the bands could stop soundchecking so there’d be less sound interruptions, which was awesome!
Headed through to the bands dressing room, I never knew if it was all the band I was interviewing or anything. The only flutter of nerves I got was when the door opened. Andy told the guys my name and why I was there. Matt’s face was too cute, he looked so happy when he looked up to say hey. Daniel asked, “Is it Stacey?” and i told him yes and he shook my hand and I said I was pleased to meet him and he seemed abit shocked. Then Matt introduced himself and saying how nice it was to meet and Derek did the same. Andy set up my camera and everything while I sorted out my questions and Derek chatted away to me, asking who I worked for and he was shocked that I was doing it for myself. I told him I’d waited 14 years to meet the band and photograph them and all of their jaws hit the floor. They kept thanking me for sticking by them so long.
Matt was puffing away on his ecig and I wanted to steal his glasses, they were too nice. The interview got underway and all went well. All took equal duties on answering, Matt actually tapping Daniel’s leg for him to go first haha.
When the interview ended they thanked me again to taking the time out to speak to them, that’s when my jaw hit the floor. It was an honour to be giving the time with them lol. Derek started asking about my site again, asked how long I had been doing it and how I even started it. Explained about my health and how I was bored one day and it’s became what it is. He couldn’t believe my site was 7 years old hah!
The band agreed to a promo shot to be taken and Daniel asked if I wanted a photo with them so I took the promo first and Derek and Matt tapped the couched inbetween them for me to squeeze in. It was such a surreal moment to be squished in between my all time musical heroes. I really wish I could’ve thanked Derek for really influencing me and giving me a push to really get involved in drumming.
They asked if I was going to the show and I said I was photographing and staying for the show. They all seemed pleased and I told them after photographing I’d be in the pit somewhere and they laughed. Matt asked if I would be singing along and I said “I’ll be screaming my heart out!” they all laughed and Derek was like “yeeah!”. We exchanged thank you’s and well wishes and all that. Andy made sure I got out alright and in the lift he was like “I’ve got a present for you but shhh you can’t tell anyone.” He held me their setlist and was like, “This is what they’re playing tonight.” I was all excited and told him to let them know it was perfect. Then I went for a beer to calm down. They made me feel so at ease during the interview and made you feel like you had known them for years. After it it was like it was all hitting me lol. Went to Sleazy’s and sat grinning to myself like a wierdo until Lauren came lol.
most perfect afternoon/night I’ve ever had.
